Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp
Connecting Facebook and Instagram
What Lumo will access when a business connects its accounts, why, and how to switch it off.
Where this is up to
Today, Lumo doesn't connect to Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp. Businesses post with the Post kit or export their week to a scheduler. Connecting Facebook and Instagram is being built now, and it switches on once Meta approves Lumo's access. This page explains how it will work, so you can decide before it arrives.
Who connects, and how
A business connects its own Facebook Page and Instagram business account, using Facebook Login. Only the business owner or an admin they choose will be able to do this. Lumo won't connect to anyone's personal profile, and it will never ask for your Facebook password.
Posting straight to Facebook and Instagram is planned for the Team and Pro plans. Until it's on, businesses post with the Post kit.
What we'll use the connection for
Only three things:
- Publishing posts the business has approved. Nothing will post without the owner's or an admin's OK. Each approved post goes out at the time they chose.
- Reading the business's own recent posts, so Lumo can learn and match how the business writes.
- Showing results, such as reach and engagement on those posts, back to the business inside Lumo.
Lumo won't read other people's accounts, send direct messages from your Page, or post anything you haven't approved.
WhatsApp Coming
WhatsApp isn't part of Lumo yet. When it is, we'll use it only to message the business owner, and the people they invite, who have chosen to turn it on. We'll use it for:
- letting you know when posts are waiting for your approval,
- gentle reminders, such as a Post kit that's ready,
- letting you reply to approve a post.
These messages will be about your own Lumo account only. We won't use WhatsApp for marketing, and we won't message your customers.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or your followers' data.
- We don't use it for advertising, and we don't use advertising cookies.
- We don't share it with other businesses. Each business's data is kept separate.
- We only use AI providers whose terms say they don't train their models on your business's data.
Disconnecting and deleting
- Disconnect any time in Lumo's settings, or from Facebook under Settings → Business integrations. Lumo will stop publishing and reading straight away.
- Deleting your Lumo account deletes your data, including anything that came from Facebook and Instagram. The business is locked straight away and everything is deleted for good after 7 days, so you have a short window to undo.
- To ask for your data to be deleted, or for a copy of it, email privacy@lumoworld.com.au.
Where your data is kept
Lumo stores business data in the EU, in Frankfurt, Germany. The full list of the services that help us run Lumo, and the countries they're in, is in our privacy policy. See also our terms.
